Startup DIMO Launches DePIN Venture in Japan to Help Automakers Monetize Vehicle Data
DIMO, a U.S.-based blockchain startup, has formed a joint venture with Hakuhodo KEY3 to penetrate Japan''s lucrative connected vehicle market. The collaboration aims to dismantle data silos that have long plagued Japanese automakers, offering a decentralized platform for monetizing vehicle data.
Japan''s connected vehicle sector is poised to reach $1 trillion by 2030, yet infrastructure costs and privacy regulations hinder innovation. DIMO''s solution allows automakers to bypass these hurdles while retaining control over their data. The platform''s community will vote on funding a 33% equity stake in the venture.
"Our immediate focus is expanding the DIMO platform for local integration," said Ryo Hayashi, CEO of DIMO Japan. The MOVE signals growing Web3 adoption in traditional industries, with blockchain unlocking value in underutilized data streams.
